Dr. Dre returned in November 1999 after a seven-year absence with an album that raised the ceiling on rap production. 2001 assembled Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Nate Dogg, and Xzibit around Dre's signature orchestral West Coast sound, elevated to something cinematic. Still D.R.E., The Next Episode, and Forgot About Dre became immediate standards. The album sold over seven million copies in the United States alone and remains the benchmark for major-label rap production. This 2019 pressing is the standard 2xLP.
