In 2003, MF DOOM introduced one of his most intriguing alter egos, Viktor Vaughn, a name that nods to Doctor Doom's real name, Victor von Doom. As the story goes, Viktor Vaughn is an interdimensional, time-traveling MC from a realm where hip-hop was banned, stranded in 1990s New York by a mechanical mishap with his time machine and hitting open mics to raise the money to repair it. Vaudeville Villain is a concept album like no other, with DOOM re-imagining himself as a younger, hungrier, more brazen persona over next-school beats that move between electronica and hip-hop, from Sound-Ink producers King Honey, Heat Sensor, and Max Bill, plus one track from RJD2. This is the silver vinyl pressing. More of the DOOM universe is in our Hip-Hop & Comics collection.
