Stakes Is High (2xLP)

Stakes Is High is De La Soul's fourth studio album, originally released in 1996. Critically lauded on arrival for its music, lyricism, and its direct confrontation of hip-hop's mid-90s commercial decline, the title track and lead single was produced by a then-unknown J Dilla. The album's second single, Itzsoweezee (HOT), featured only Dave on vocals and was paired with a striking music video, while a third single, 4 More, featured Zhane. The record also gave an early platform to Mos Def, who appears on Big Brother Beat, and Common, featured on The Bizness.
