Originally released in 2011 as a free mixtape, Return of 4Eva was the project that introduced Justin Scott: Big K.R.I.T.: to a national audience. Entirely self-produced, it landed at number 32 on Rolling Stone's best albums of 2011 and quickly became one of the most celebrated mixtape-to-vinyl transitions in Southern hip-hop history. K.R.I.T. pulls from OutKast, UGK, and the full spectrum of Mississippi and Texas soul without sounding derivative: the references are absorbed into something fully his own. My Sub, Rotation, Dreamin, and American Rapstar remain cornerstones of his catalog. This 2022 pressing on 2xLP features 14 tracks from the original release.
