Malibu, 10 Year Anniversary (2xLP, Tri-Color Vinyl, Pop-Up Gatefold)

Released January 15, 2016, Malibu was the moment the world met Anderson .Paak in full: a virtuosic drummer, a raspy-voiced crooner, and a sharp-witted rapper, arriving after a star-making run on Dr. Dre's Compton. It is a sun-drenched journey through the Southern California coast, blending 1970s funk, gospel, and boom-bap, with production from 9th Wonder, Madlib, Kaytranada, and Hi-Tek and guests including ScHoolboy Q, Rapsody, BJ the Chicago Kid, The Game, and Talib Kweli. It is also deeply autobiographical, touching on his mother's gambling addiction, his father's incarceration, and his own brushes with homelessness. This limited 10 year anniversary edition is a 2xLP in a pop-up gatefold jacket, pressed on tangerine, olive green, and brown vinyl. His newest album, Heavy Is the Crown, with Cordae, is in the shop too.
