Madvillain

MF DOOM and Madlib as Madvillain, DOOM's villain persona meeting Madlib's crate-digging genius, made Madvillainy in 2004 on Stones Throw Records and produced what's widely considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever recorded. Madlib built the whole thing from short, dense loops, often barely a minute long, deliberately resisting hooks and choruses, forcing DOOM's dense internal rhyme schemes to carry every track on their own. "All Caps" became the closest thing to a thesis statement either artist ever wrote, DOOM even voicing the hook himself: "just remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man name."
