Geto Boys
Willie D, Bushwick Bill, and Scarface formed the Geto Boys in Houston's Fifth Ward and spent the early 1990s making records that mainstream distributors refused to carry. We Can't Be Stopped was banned, certified Platinum, and produced Mind Playing Tricks on Me all at the same time. The album cover, photographed the morning after Bushwick Bill was shot in the eye, remains one of the most confrontational images in rap history. Rap-A-Lot Records built its empire on the Geto Boys. Houston rap built its identity on them too.
