De La Soul's sixth album arrived in December 2001, a year after Mosaic Thump, continuing the group's Chrysalis era with a looser, more playful record that found them stretching in new directions. Baby Phat, featuring Yummy Bingham and Devin the Dude, became their ode to self-acceptance. Held Down with Cee-Lo found Posdnuos in his most introspective mode — fatherhood, religion, fame. Slick Rick appeared on What We Do (For Love). The Reverend Do Good skits ran through the record as social commentary. This 2023 Chrysalis reissue is pressed on black 140g vinyl in a custom printed jacket.
