De La Soul's tenth studio album arrives nine years after their last, and as the first record made in the shadow of Dave Trugoy the Dove's passing in 2023. It incorporates previously unreleased vocals from him throughout, making Cabin in the Sky both a tribute and a continuation. Pete Rock, DJ Premier, and Super Dave West handle production; Killer Mike, Common, Nas, Q-Tip, and Black Thought from The Roots appear as guests. Released as part of Mass Appeal's Legend Has It series alongside new albums from Slick Rick, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Mobb Deep, Big L, and Nas with DJ Premier, it is De La Soul at their most emotionally direct: all the distinctive De La groove still intact, rooted now in grief and gratitude.
